Police hunt for Brockville burglars

Police are hunting three men believed to be linked to late-night break-ins in Brockville.

A Caldwell St house was entered after a glass pane was smashed on Monday night.

Several items were taken, but police were yet to be provided with a comprehensive list, Senior Sergeant Liz Waru said.

A nearby Saunders St address was also entered and a television taken.

About 2am yesterday, police received a report from a member of the public about suspicious activity in the area.

Three men were seen loading a television into a car, she said.

Two vehicles - a grey Mitsubishi Galant and a white Toyota van - were being used by the trio.

Two of the men were of average build and height and the third was described as tall and lanky.

''Our informant thought it was a weird time to be moving a TV,'' Snr Sgt Waru said.

Police went to the area but were unable to find the men or the vehicles, she said.

Inquiries were ongoing.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area on Monday night or early yesterday morning should contact Dunedin police on 471-4800.

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555-111.
