A person is dead and another seriously injured after a crash in south Canterbury this afternoon.
A St John spokesman said two vehicles were thought to have been involved in the crash at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Scarborough Rd, south of Timaru, about 3.30pm.
One person died at the scene and another was transported to Timaru Hospital with serious injuries.
A third person was treated at the scene with minor injuries.
Police would not immediately comment on the crash.
A spokesman said diversions were in place.
