University was quick to take advantage of an early penalty corner as Kieran O'Connor slammed the ball into the goal from the top of the circle.
Minutes later, O'Connor had an encore performance as he re enacted the first goal to a T.
King's took a hit as Aaron Farrell was taken off the field after he was given a green card.
He may have been needed for a penalty corner which went awry as King's barely managed to get the ball into the circle before being pushed out.
O'Connor looked as if he was going to score a hat trick for the students with their next penalty corner, but King's got wise to his signature move and deflected. This was followed by two more unsuccessful penalty corners.
After the break, both teams had players sent off as King's received another green card and University collected two yellow cards.
After a run in with the King's goalie, University's Lachie Davidson scored from his penalty stroke.
University showed no sign of tiring as, two minutes later, Sebastian Buddle hooked in another goal. The power in University's hits helped the students hold on to their lead as King's was unable to accurately trap the ball.
Aaron Fahey finally got King's on the scoreboard after a successful run at goal late into the game. Determined to have the last say, Buddle replied quickly with another goal for University.
In the other men's premier matches, the Albany Alligators beat the Taieri Tuataras 6-1, and the University Black Panthers beat KETOB A 3-1.
