The Waitaki Tourism Association decided to upgrade the sign outside the Plunket rooms - a popular stopping place for visitors.
The town and district maps were also updated and the Oamaru stone columns cleaned.
The association's next project is a tourism survey to get feedback from tourists on their experiences in the town.
An official tourist survey has not been conducted in the town for four years.
The findings would be presented to the Waitaki District Council, chairwoman Sally Berry said.
