Billie Mull, 6, from Myrtleford, Victoria, stands in front of a D10 Caterpillar bulldozer, belonging to OceanaGold, at the first day of the final Wheels at Wānaka yesterday.

Billie’s father, Daniel, drives a D8 Caterpillar bulldozer back home in Australia.

Mr Mull said when he first heard this year’s event would be the final Wheels at Wānaka, he started planning the trip for the school holidays.

The family would head back to the grounds at Three Parks today and tomorrow, he said. Mr Mull, a truck mechanic by trade, said his children — Billie and her brothers Charlie, 8, and Jackson, 3 — enjoyed being around the machinery.

Despite the foul weather, the family was enjoying the event.

"Yeah, it’s awesome," he said.
