They were part of a charity golf tournament, in its fifth year, organised by Dunedin Rotary East, which raised $5000 for the Otago Community Hospice.
The rotary club had been raising money for the hospice for the past eight years, over which time $20,000 had been donated, publicity officer Pete Smith said.
Although the club raised money for a range of different charities, it had always been very supportive of the hospice and he described it as a "worthy cause".
"The hospice has been the one we give large amounts to," he said.
Sponsored holes and raffles on the day also contributed, as did a $20 entry fee for the 14 teams of four.
"We had a very good response from everyone. People look forward to it every year," committee convener Paul Fairbairn said.
New Zealand Guardian Trust was a major sponsor of the tournament and Chisholm Park was also supportive.
"We are very grateful for the support we get," Mr Smith said.
