The Lauder Ukulele Festival is set to begin this week, and although looking forward to it, organisers are a little nervous.
Esme Macdonald, of Lauder, said organisers were confident it would work out.
''We are a bit nervous about some of the things we don't know about [but] it is going to be a good weekend, with lots of people around and playing together and lots of people like me enjoying the music.''
The festival, which runs from Thursday until Sunday, has been in planning since Christmas 2013 and will feature performances, jam sessions, sing-a-longs, ukulele workshops and markets.
Five of the 12 workshops, which have options for beginners and experts, were already fully booked by last week and others were filling up.
''We have 15 acts on stage on Friday for the main day and no room for any more,'' co-organiser Bruce Macdonald said.
Organisers were hoping that about 300 people would attend the event.
Mrs Macdonald said she expected the festival would be good for businesses in the area, especially bed and breakfasts, hotels and cafes.
Many community groups, such as rural women's groups, the Lauder Beautification Society, the Becks Play Group and the Omakau Districts Lions Club had helped with the organising and would assist during the event.
