The Saddle Hill Community Board is hosting a workshop for the other five Dunedin community boards - Chalmers, Mosgiel Taieri, Otago Peninsula, Strath Taieri and Waikouaiti Coast - on Tuesday.
Saddle Hill Community Board chairman Scott Weatherall said the workshop would give board members a chance to discuss the ''challenges and issues'' facing boards.
At the workshop, a member from each board would give a presentation on its successes and challenges last year, he said.
The workshop, at Dunedin City Council offices, would include updates by staff from Civil Defence, Neighbourhood Support and Gigatown.
Mr Weatherall said how Gigatown would benefit the ''outlying communities'' would be discussed.
Council chief executive Sue Bidrose would speak at the workshop on ways the boards could engage better with the council for mutual benefit.
The workshop would also include an exercise on how the boards could work together better, Mr Weatherall said.
