Queenstown police abandoned a pursuit in the resort this morning when a vehicle they attempted to stop reached speeds of 140kmh along Frankton Rd.
Senior Constable Chris Blackford said police attempted to stop the dark-coloured Sedan at 3.15am, but the vehicle "took off''.
Inquiries are continuing, he said.
