The Cromwell Mall is better than the best he saw recently in Australia, the member of Parliament for Otago, Mr W.E. Cooper, said at the town centre opening in January 1985.
He said Cromwell had a head start on other towns in the region, but that these towns will want a "share of the cake" that will come as a result of the development in the area.
