The Hervey Bay deputy school principals, on their fourth biking holiday to New Zealand, reached Dunedin and the Dunedin Holiday Park on Saturday, about 600km into a planned 900km journey around the South.
They began their trip at Queenstown, crossing Lake Wakatipu on TSS Earnslaw, before heading for Invercargill and then reaching Dunedin via the Catlins.
They plan to ride the Otago Central Rail Trail before ending their trip in Queenstown.
''We always wanted to do the rail trail,'' Mr Christie said.
They have enjoyed the friendliness of New Zealanders, and have received plenty of help along the way, including offers of drinks.
''I just love the scenery, I just love being away from all the responsibilities of home,'' Mrs Christie said.
And Mr Christie has enjoyed meeting ''lots of different people'' from many different countries, including one Frenchman they encountered, travelling with a unicycle to provide entertainment as he went.
