The fountain below however is a different story, with algae and rubbish populating the water, leaving one resident to ask what it says about the town.
Retiree Glen Shepard said he first discovered the disrepair over the Christmas break.
"Over Christmas I was taking the dog for a run downtown, and I noticed lately there’s algae around the base of the trout.
"I didn’t want to let her go for a swim, it was really, you know" he said.
Mr Shepard said he reached out to the Gore District Council about the issue, but was not confident in their response.
"I rang the council, and all they said was ‘oh we’ll take a note of this’," he said.
"They did have it running. I think something broke down and they just left it.
"It’s just bad management by the council. I’d like to see it cleaned up, and have the water like it was, fresh water all the time.
"But that’s not going to happen [laughs]," he said.
Mr Shepard said it was a bad look for Gore.
"Would you go and visit if you were a tourist and you saw that? Would you let your kids play, walk around it?" he said.
In a statement to The Ensign, the Gore District Council acknowledged the issue, and said there were plans to clean the fountain this week, and monthly in future.
