A runaway car that crashed into another vehicle in central Dunedin sparked a response from emergency services this morning.

A police spokeswoman said a vehicle had rolled down a slope and into another vehicle, at the intersections of Smith and Stuart Sts, at about 11.20am this morning.

One person was in the vehicle at the time.

There were no reported injuries or road blocking, she said.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said they assisted somebody with stopping a car from rolling down a hill.

The car crash was "exceptionally minor", he said.
