The popular walking track was closed after October’s heavy rain in Dunedin caused 10 large slips across the track.
An Otago Daily Times photographer in the area yesterday saw one couple clamber over a fence to make their way down the track.
Another group seemed to be searching for another way to access the beach.
A Doc spokesperson said the track and carpark remained closed and they anticipated it would reopen in mid-2025.
"We ask people to stay away from closed tracks for their own safety."
Doc was working with iwi and contractors on a plan for the track’s safe reopening. If people saw anyone on the track, they should contact Doc on 0800 362 468, the spokesperson said.
