The group is hosting a demonstration with former Masterchef New Zealand judge and restaurateur Simon Gault next Saturday at the Omarama Memorial Hall.
Organiser Georgie Robertson said it would be be a "fun evening" showing how to prepare heartwarming meals - "nothing too fussy, nothing too fancy" but guaranteed to get the whole family excited.
Mrs Robertson said the idea was born out of the town’s Covid-19 experience.
In February 2022, volunteers sprang into action making food and assembling care packs for those in isolation.
"What came to light was that many of our menfolk, of all ages, were at a loss as to how to cook for themselves or the family when the women of the household were out of action.
"It can be quite an overwhelming feeling," Mrs Robertson said.
Gault opened his first restaurant at age 22 and knows a thing or two about food.
He said Omarama "holds a special place" for him as he also happens to be a glider pilot.
The Omarama Gliding Club was involved and would take registrations from ticket holders for its open day at the Omarama Airfield the next day.
Mrs Robertson said "generous" sponsors and volunteers also made it possible.
"This is not a fundraiser as such but follows in the best tradition of bringing special guests to our place. We would usually have to travel to enjoy such an experience."
Omarama Friends of School would have food offerings on the night and community groups would hold stalls.
Artworks given by former Totara Peak Gallery owner Sally Fodie to the Omarama Volunteer Fire Brigade would be on display, plus new artworks by the local playgroup.
