Waimate's first Zombie Run/Walk is being organised by Studholme farmer Rory Foley.
On November 8, runners will wear two tags as they make their way around a 2km course, with various assault course obstacles - and more than 30 zombies - in their way.
Mr Foley has become known as Waimate's ''horror mastermind'' for his charitable work with the Studholme Maize Maze and the Waimate Asylum Horror House attractions.
Funds raised from previous events went to the Cancer Society and Waimate Centennial School.
This time, Zombie Run proceeds will help local sportswoman Jasmine Rule travel to Cairo, Egypt for the women's golf croquet world championships.
Miss Rule, who has Asperger's syndrome, is ranked among the country's best in the sport.
Mr Foley said there had been much interest in the R13 event, which starts at 1pm on November 8.
Runners and walkers can register on the day.
