A council spokesperson said the group deserved the honour for "outstanding dedication to supporting the holistic development and wellbeing of students, teachers and families within our local community."
The core of the committee’s mission has been to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between pupils, parents and caregivers and the school by ensuring open communication and strong relationships.
Innovative initiatives to complement the curriculum and cultivate a sense of community included the Ethel and Bethel Bingo Night, BPS Food Wrap Fundraiser and the "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" campaign which raised significant funds for the school community.
Fundraising to support learning initiatives, provide essential resources for students and families and enhance the overall educational experience has been key to their efforts. Beyond this the committee continues to actively engage in community-building activities such as barbecues, raffle drives and collaborative projects like the Spud Dig Night, to foster inclusive environments and strengthen community bonds.
"Their commitment extends to practical support as well, with members actively involved in school improvement projects and initiatives like the construction of the ‘GaGa Ball’ surround, demonstrating their dedication to enhancing school facilities and student experiences," the council said.
"Moreover, the committee ensures equitable access to educational resources by subsidising school camps, graduation ceremonies and providing essential services such as stationery supplies and water safety classes for all students at Balclutha Primary School.
"In recognition of their tireless efforts and profound impact on the local community, the Balclutha Primary School whānau and school committee is celebrated for exemplifying the spirit of community service and educational excellence."
A delegation of the committee including Balclutha School principal Vicki Neave was pleased to accept the council’s recognition for efforts that had been focused purely on their community.
"The staff and students of Balclutha Primary School are very grateful for the continued support of our wonderful whānau and school," Mrs Neave said.
"Their support with things like devices, reading books, stationery, bikes and water safety lessons really enriches the learning programmes for all our students. We would really struggle without them."
