The bad news is Arrowtown’s ‘long lunch’ has been iced this year.

The good news is, the event’s new organisers — You Gather Events — are promising to bring it back, bigger and better, on December 5, 2025.

Formerly managed by the Arrowtown Promotion and Business Association, You Gather Events’ Laura Saville and Campbell Ross have taken ownership of the long-standing event, first held in 2010.

The couple say they’re committed to ensuring the ‘Arrowtown Longtable’ thrives for years to come.

Given the challenges the event’s faced due to rising costs associated with consents and infrastructure, Saville and Ross have decided to cancel this year’s event.

While that’s disappointing, "offering the highest customer experience is a top priority for us, and [given] the short timeframe to the event, we did not want to deliver something to jeopardise the event for future years".

"It also gives us the opportunity to further connect with local businesses and ensure the event’s support causes minimal disruption," Ross says.

Saville says the goal is to create an event which brings locals together and welcomes visitors from all over the world, providing a "strong economic impact" for Arrowtown.

"We want to have a positive impact on the local hospitality and retail scene, making Arrowtown an even better place to enjoy great food and company."

APBA manager Nicky Busst says they’re delighted to pass the baton on to a "reputable event organiser", ensuring the long lunch stays on the event calendar and enables the continuation of Arrowtown initiatives benefiting through receiving a percentage of profits over the coming years.

Tickets and details for next year’s Arrowtown Longtable will be announced mid next year.
