The lights have come back on across Dunedin after a brief but widespread street light blackout this evening.
Initial reports suggested the street lights were out across the central city, from Musselburgh to Northeast Valley.
The blackout extended up the west harbour and Otago Peninsula, and as far away as Mosgiel.
Reports began coming in about 7pm, but the fault was fixed about 7.30pm.
Dunedin City Council roading maintenance engineer Peter Standring said the outage was caused by a faulty sensor which had since been rectified.
