Ireland retains world ploughing titles

The luck of the Irish prevailed at the 69th World Ploughing Contest in Estonia.

Eamonn Tracey, of County Carlow, and Jer Coakley, of County Cork, represented the Republic of Ireland ploughing team, and were both crowned world champions in their classes on August 17.

Ireland has now retained the conventional and reversible world titles for three consecutive years.

In the reversible class, Bob Mehrtens, of Timaru, was sixth in a field of 20.

Mark Dillon, of Riversdale, was 17th in a field of 24 in the conventional class.
