Motorists beware, a national speed campaign is being launched and police will soon be keeping a close eye on speeds on roads across the country.
Sergeant Brian Cameron, of Queenstown, said motorists should be keeping an eye on their speedometers regardless of the campaign, but it was a reminder, given the quiet time of year and the temptation to make the most of clear roads.
"They need to keep a mindful eye on their speed at all times, regardless of the campaign, but if it's in the newspaper, they can't say they haven't been warned.
"The short, sharp answer [for anyone who thinks about speeding] is don't," he said.
