State Highway 6 has reopened near Lake Hayes after three people were injured in a crash this morning.
Police said they were alerted to the two-car collision on State Highway 6, near Bendemeer Lane, about 7.20am.
Hato Hone St John said two people were taken to Lakes District Hospital in a serious condition and one with moderate injuries.
Three ambulances and a helicopter attended the scene.
The highway was closed for several hours between McDonnell Rd and Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Rd, with a detour is in place.
NZ Transport Agency/Waka Kotahi advised about 3.40pm the highway had reopened.
