The Davidson family, alongside others, are once again taking on the Southern Scooter Challenge to raise money for Hospice Southland.
The 8th annual challenge is on Saturday, September 7.
It is a 220km stretch from Bluff to Queenstown.
More than 150 people take part in the challenge each year.
Glenn Davidson, his daughters Olivia and Jess, and Jess’ partner Patrick Bungard are suiting up in superhero costumes to take on the challenge — no matter the weather.
They completed the challenge last year, although they had some bumps on the road.
"It rained every minute of the challenge," Jess said.
"We were completely soaked but we still had fun."
Although the team hoped to have some better weather this year, they would not let the weather stop them from raising money for Hospice Southland.
"Our family started entering into the challenge just to do it together," Jess said.
"Since then we have had family and friends go through hospice and have been involved with it all before.
"So it just gave us more reason to do the challenge.
"It feels like it’s our way of giving back to the people who have helped us out with our loved ones.
"It’s all for a good cause.
"You meet all sorts of people at the challenge — people from all walks of life.
"People are all there to contribute towards the same thing."
The family encouraged people to get out and give it a go.
"It’s a lot of fun.
"You meet some awesome people and it pushes you out of your comfort zone.
"You get to see some cool scenery and raise money for a good cause.
"It’s all worth it."
