Totara School parents have received a notice for consultation on the future direction of the school.

As commissioner Cleave Hay continues to re-evaluate the school’s vision, parents are being asked four questions ahead of consultation sessions on Monday and Wednesday.

The questions are:

• What are the reasons that you bring your children to Totara School?

• What do you value most in education?

• If we had an endless supply of money, what would you like us to do?

• Moving forward, what would you like Totara School to be known for?

In a covering letter to parents, Mr Hay and principal Sandra Spekreijse have also addressed the "period of change" the school has gone through.

The school was placed in the hands of commissioner Mr Hay in June after the board resigned.

The commissioner and the principal are urging whanau, staff and pupils to share their voice as they "move forward together" with a "united front".

To help "revision" the school, individual family or whanau hui were planned.

"It is really important to us that we gather all voices," the letter said.

Those 15-minute individual "hui or interviews" needed to be booked and would be facilitated by former Palmerston Primary School principal John Goulstone at The Business Hive in Oamaru.
