Great minds designed Forsyth Barr Stadium to keep out snow and other unpleasant weather.
But it has not stopped organisers of the Indoor Winch Jam from turning the inside into a white paradise for skiers and snowboarders.
Twenty cubic metres (two truckloads) of snow was transported from Wanaka's Snow Farm to the stadium yesterday, where it was dumped on wooden pallets, creating a playground for competitors to do their stuff in tonight's event.
University of Otago Red Bull student brand manager Cameron Sims said very little of the snow melted on the four-hour journey from Wanaka to Dunedin.
Mr Sims said it was a student-run event, predominantly for students, and would involve New Zealand's skiing and snowboarding talent throwing themselves over a custom designed set-up ''for the wicked''.
''We have a wakeboarding winch which will tow athletes on to a jump with two snowboarding rails.''
The jumps will be judged by professional snowboarder Jake Koia.
