Ski club delivering Meals on Wheels

Switching slopes for streets, members of the Whakatipu Ski Club yesterday started a three-week volunteering period, delivering Meals on Wheels.

The ski club has been volunteering with Meals on Wheels for more than 10 winters, as members of the ski club tend to be more comfortable driving in wintry conditions than regular volunteers.

Helping with deliveries throughout Frankton yesterday are Batterbury brothers Noah, 11, and Luka, 7. Their dad, Ben, thought it was a great way to give back to the community.

Ski club spokeswoman Sharla Franklin said the volunteering period was timed with the school holidays so children of the club could get involved.

Over three weeks, about 270 meals will be delivered by 20 drivers from the ski club.
