More than 100 people visited Tūhura Otago Museum yesterday to participate in fun activities to celebrate Matariki.
Activities included manu tukutuku (kite weaving) with Kate McCracken;
having a go at mau rākau (Māori traditional martial arts) with Jade Morgan;
singing waiata with Tenaya Brown and Matangiorupe Sword;
listening to the sounds of taoka puoro (traditional Māori instruments) played by Dr Jennifer Cattermole;
as well as poi-making and experiencing the Waka Whetū Matariki visual showcase by Otago Polytechnic
