New faces will be taking over a popular annual breakfast fundraiser.

Previous pink ribbon breakfast hosts Judy and Russell Houliston, of Balclutha, have stepped back after 10 years of hosting the annual charity breakfast at the South Otago Town & Country Club (SOTC) in Balclutha.

Learning the ropes for this year’s charity breakfast are husband and wife Duncan and Shona McDonald.

"Judy asked last year at their final official pink ribbon breakfast if anyone wanted to take it on ... my hand just shot straight up, much to my own surprise," Mrs McDonald said.

"Breast cancer, and any cancer, has affected the lives of so many.

"This is a way we can give back to the community and do our bit," she said.

"Duncan has been shown how to gauge support from businesses and I’ve been working behind the scenes to see how it actually runs.

"There is a lot to do so we’re hoping we can do our best to raise money for such an important cause."

Apart from the breakfast itself, there will be raffles and a silent auction, which last year brought in exactly $5000 for breast cancer awareness.

The money raised is then used in the community for people needing support in their breast cancer journey.

The breakfast is $20 and people must bring only cash to the SOTC for raffles and auctions.

It is being held on May 26.
