Otago Girls High School business team Imperial Enterprises has won a subcategory of the annual national Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme awards.
Imperial Enterprises, which developed, marketed and sold several thousand of its promotional gift bags featuring Otago tourism destinations, won the overall Otago award last month, being one of 16 teams from eight Otago high schools taking part in the year-long scheme.
At an award ceremony in Wellington last night, the team of Brooke Alexander, Amber Nash, Alana Byrne, Kathryn Seque, Lana Yee, Rochelle Todd and Mikaela Leacock won the More FM Award for Communication.
The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme Company of the Year was won by Rotorua Boys High School.
The Todd Corporation Award for Young Enterprisers (runner-up) was won by Wanganui Collegiate and the Todd Corporation Award for Young Enterprisers (winner) was Westlake Boys High School of Auckland.
Organisers said a team of experienced business people from around New Zealand judged the entries and award recipients celebrated their success at a dinner with the special guest, British High Commissioner George Fergusson.
