But television and film set decorator and creative events producer Dallas Synnott is convinced it will have people flooding into her pop-up store at 343 George St this weekend, as part of iD Fashion Week.
The store opened to VIPs last night, and will be open to the public at 10am today.
She said many designers and artists had created limited edition and bespoke items for "this glorious fever dream".
"So there won’t be any bargains, as such."
They included garments, accessories, jewellery and art by Jon Cox, Lucy Hunter, Richie Boyens/Ratbags, Aunty, Beats, Humanoid, Lance Strickland, Self-Destruct Studio, Meitsje, Napper Jewellery, Sum of Many, Susan Videler, Jess Covell, Alchemy, Groover and the Moon, and Sidney North.
There would also be a limited range of Awful Things merchandise available, including T-shirts, jackets, hats, socks and tote bags, she said.
"It’s a cheeky love note to the Dunedin gothic aesthetic — a celebration of our identity and our signature look.
"We want to give a platform to amazing Dunedin creatives who embody the spirit of the Ōtepoti aesthetic in their work, and it’s always fun to create something unexpected in the city.
"What better time to do that than over iD Fashion Week."
