Display screens at the Dunedin bus hub showed buses scheduled on Good Friday and Easter Sunday when there were no services running and a regular bus schedule on Easter Monday when there were limited holiday services running.
Some passengers were left confused as they waited for the buses to arrive.
Transport manager Lorraine Cheyne said the council apologised for the inconvenience and the fault was the timetable provider’s.
The correct timetable information was advertised on the council’s website and social media before and during the weekend and the issue was only at the bus hub.
A post was made to the Orbus Dunedin Facebook page on Wednesday night regarding the Easter break — but some missed the memo.
After a few people were spotted waiting at bus stops on Good Friday, unaware the drivers were on holiday, the Otago Daily Times reported the issue on Saturday.
Nevertheless the issue persisted on Easter Sunday and Monday.
