Roads damaged by two floods in North Otago since Easter could cost about $300,000 to repair, but Waitaki District Council roading manager Michael Voss warns this is an ''awful broad guess''.
Inspection of damaged roads was completed yesterday after floodwaters started to fall on Tuesday.
State Highway 1 was open again yesterday after being closed at 11pm on Monday night, as were all district major arterial routes.
The council had also ensured dairy tankers could get through to milking sheds.
Mr Voss said many roads in the coastal area of the district were still closed or needed caution.
