No super over.

No boundary countback.

Just a shared title.

That is how it should have been at the 2019 World Cup.

But they are a more cultured lot in the Dunedin premier grade.

North East Valley posted 119 for five in a rain-affected innings. The match was reduced further to five overs.

University-Grange needed 50 to win and managed 49 for two.

The game was tied and the title shared.

Hunter Kindley blasted an undefeated 53 for North East Valley. Thorn Parkes (17) and Jamie Grassi (20) provided some support.

University-Grange’s top order was bolstered by Black Cap Glenn Phillips.

But his younger brother, Dale Phillips, opened and swatted two sixes and a four before Travis Muller removed him for 21.

Glenn’s innings lasted two balls. He hit a four and was dismissed the next ball by Shaedon Miller.

Daniel Kibby (22 not out) needed three off the last ball but could manage just a couple of runs.

Valley made the final last year but were upset by Green Island. They got their own back on the Swamp Rats, beating them in the final round-robin game on Saturday to clinch a spot in the final.

University-Grange edged Taieri in a final-over thriller to make the final.

Albion beat CDK by one wicket in the other match.
