The Topp Twins are "extremely excited" to make their return to the Wānaka A&P Show.

The iconic musical duo will headline both days at next month’s show for the first time since 2017.

The twins, Dame Lynda Topp and Dame Jools Topp, have played at many A&P shows but recognise the Wanaka event, which attracts about 44,000 people every year, as particularly special.

"It’s been a long time since we appeared at an A&P Show and Wānaka is a dream show," the Topp Twins said.

"The fact that the showgrounds are right in town and on the edge of the lake, make for a stunning location."

The sisters are looking forward to the challenges of playing at the A&P show.

"A&P shows have been our bread and butter for over 40 years, and it is always a great challenge to get an audience to come by when there is so much going on.

"Last time we played at Wānaka A&P, the crowds were amazing, they were huge and so supportive."

Wānaka A&P Show event manager Jane Stalker said the show team was excited to welcome back the Topp Twins.

"You can’t go past the Topp Twins," she said.

"They have been a few times now and always draw the crowds for their fun music and hilarious banter.

"It will be fantastic to see Lynda, Jools and their alter-egos, Camp Mother/Camp Leader and Ken/Ken, live on stage."

Every year, thousands of people from around the country attend the show, for its livestock events, rides, games, activities, home industry displays and live entertainment.

The 87th Wānaka A&P Show takes place on Friday and Saturday, March 8-9.

Tickets can be bought online at wanakashow.co.nz from February 1.
