Breakthrough win for teen tennis player

Queenstown tennis player Kai Milburn last Saturday won his first International Tennis Federation junior (under-18) tournament in Christchurch last week.

The 16-year-old (above) beat Japan’s Kanata Ozaki 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 in the final.

Kai’s playing another ITF junior tournament this week, as is his brother Dan, who’s 15.

Following his Christchurch win, Kai’s reached a career-high world U18 ranking of 259.
