A few garments from the Eden Hore fashion collection will be on display in Alexandra from tomorrow - the first time any have been exhibited since the collection changed hands eight months ago.
The Central Otago District Council faced some criticism after buying the 1970s-'80s high-fashion garments for $40,000 in August.
Some opponents complained about the purchase price for the 276 outfits, while others wanted the collection put on display as soon as possible.
Mr Hore, a high country farmer who died in 1997, had the garments displayed at his property near Naseby.
Four pieces will form part of the Wool Away exhibition from tomorrow until May 4 at the Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery.
The exhibition will focus on the history of sheep and sheep stations in Central Otago and highlight the importance of the wool industry to the district's economy.
It will feature some of the first pieces Mr Hore collected, four hand-spun, hand-woven wool outfits designed by Beverly Horne, June Mercer and Pauline Kingston.
The exhibition will include photos and memorabilia from several stations, and items designed by Clyde designer Marnie Kelly.
