One of Oamaru's best known pub restaurants, Fat Sally's, is on the market after a decade under the ownership and operation of Sally-Ann and Grant Donnelly and son Kevin.
The pub restaurant, in lower Thames St next to the Oamaru Courthouse, is on the market for $395,000. It is reported to have an annual turnover of more than $1.1 million.
Mrs Donnelly was out of Oamaru yesterday and could not be contacted.
The former ANZ Bank building was redeveloped into a pub-restaurant with four-bedroom accommodation on the first floor to become, first, Annie Flanagan's Irish Bar, then, when that closed, the opportunity Mrs Donnelly (43) had always wanted to have her own hospitality business.
After decades of involvement in the hospitality industry, after leaving Waitaki Girls' High School, Mrs Donnelly opened Fat Sally's pub and restaurant in 2004, with her family.
Since then, she has also taken over operation of the Portside restaurant and bar, overlooking Oamaru Harbour, in 2008, and the lease of the Criterion Hotel, one of the most prominent buildings in Oamaru's historic precinct, in 2012.
In 2012, she was awarded a Waitaki Citizens Award for her work and contribution, often behind the scenes, to a wide range of groups and charities.
