Ken Gale, of Dunedin, ties a white ribbon to the fence of the First Church of Otago to support White Ribbon Day.
PSO Family Works director Carmen Batchelor said this year the focus was ensuring the next generation understood what having a respectful relationship meant and emphasised the fact they did not include violence.
Presbyterian Support Otago (PSO), with help from the Dunedin Collaboration Against Family Violence, organised the event to raise awareness of violence against women.
People of all ages came to tell their stories, reflect and ask questions. Many came and tied a white ribbon to the fence — including Dunedin Mayor Jules Radich and other council representatives.
