Balclutha boy with diabetes left crying after cafe refused him sugar

A 10-year-old Balclutha boy with diabetes was left scared and crying after a local cafe refused to let him have a spoonful of sugar.

For Jakob Merrett, of Balclutha, sugar is his lifeline.

He wants people in his town, and all around, to be aware that a spoonful of sugar can sometimes be the medicine he needs.
