Forty primary-age children competed in the Amazing Race yesterday, the conclusion to five days of activities as part of an Active Kids programme run by Sport Waitaki and the Waitaki Community Recreation Centre.

The children were divided into teams of four for the race, which included tasks ranging from eating dry Weet-Bix, an obstacle course, throwing water balloons into a bucket on a team-mate's head, the obstacle course and ball race.

The holiday programme was fully booked and had a waiting list, and will be held again in future holidays if sponsorship is available.
