The Dunedin to Brighton Veteran Car Rally rolls into the Brighton Domain this weekend and it will be the best yet, organisers say.
Convener Tony Devereux said this year's rally marked the 60th anniversary of the event and 63 vehicles would be taking part.
The rally usually attracted about 30 entrants but for the milestone drivers from as far afield as Palmerston North and Invercargill were taking part.
''Most of our stalwarts are there and half the field are folks that don't generally come this far,'' Mr Devereux said.
As most of the vehicles had come specifically to mark the 60th anniversary, ''this is the time to see them if people are ever going to want to'', he said.
''They [the drivers] are all in period costume. It's quite a spectacle.''
The vehicles would arrive at the Octagon about 10am and leave for Brighton at 11am.
The first vehicles were expected in Brighton by 11.30am and would remain at the Brighton Gala Day in the Brighton Domain until about 3pm.
• The rally runs alongside the Brighton Gala Day, at the Brighton Domain from 10am-5pm.
