Two safes, minibus stolen

Police are appealing for information after thieves stole two safes and a school minibus in Lawrence.

Constable Darren Huddleston, of Milton, said a safe and minibus were stolen from Lawrence Area School, and a second safe was taken from the Simpson Park complex next door.

He said it appeared the thieves had broken a window in the administration block, gone into a storeroom and taken a safe. They also ''rummaged'' through the reception area, finding the keys to the school minibus which was parked in the courtyard.

The gymnasium at Simpson Park was entered, a safe taken from the bar area and the cash register broken into. Five bottles of spirits were also taken.

The burglary happened between 8pm on Thursday and 7am yesterday.

Const Huddleston said the minibus was a silver Nissan Caravan with the registration CYB126.

He asked for any sightings of the minibus be reported to police immediately, and anyone who saw anything suspicious should contact their local police station.
