A man with links to a gang became embroiled in a confrontation after the vehicle he was in was hit by another car on Wednesday afternoon.
The man was admitted to Dunedin Hospital but left against medical advice.
Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said officers were called to a collision between a black car and a silver Subaru in Riselaw Rd, Calton Hill, about 2.40pm on Wednesday.
The driver of the black car failed to give way and T-boned the silver car, Snr Sgt Bond said.
A confrontation ensued and officers broke up the fight when they arrived.
Two people were taken to hospital for observation, one person from each car.
Neither was seriously injured, Snr Sgt Bond said.
People at the scene were placed in handcuffs while police made initial inquiries.
Inquiries were ongoing, Snr Sgt Bond said.
It is understood the driver of the silver car — a member or former member of the Killer Beez gang — left hospital against medical advice.
