Mrs Wilson, who was believed to be the eldest person in New Zealand, died last week in Vickery Court, Invercargill.
Her funeral was held in her home town of Clyde and was attended by about 200 people.
In a tribute from one of her grand-daughters, Stephnie de Ruyter, Mrs Wilson was described as an astute, self-disciplined woman who possessed an understated dignity and was ''always a lady''.
She lived in her Clyde home until two and a-half years ago, when she fell and broke a hip. After that, she moved into Vickery Court but even so still spoke of returning home to Clyde.
Mrs Wilson took a genuine interest in each and every family member and a warm and gracious welcome was extended to all, family said.
Mrs Wilson and her late husband Bill had three children and the couple's descendants also include nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
