Armed police called out in Fairfield

Police have impounded a vehicle after a callout involving armed officers in Fairfield today.

A member of the public told the Otago Daily Times that five officers, some of them armed, were searching a parked car in Martin Rd about 11am.

The car - a black Audi - was being searched while other officers were securing the surrounding area.

A police spokesman said they were impounding the car.
