A man is taken into custody during an armed offenders callout in Heriot Row, central Dunedin, yesterday afternoon.
A five-person armed offenders squad team could be seen approaching an apartment complex at the top of the hill from the intersection with Scotland and London Sts.
The 27-year-old is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court today on a charge of threatening to kill or do grievous bodily harm.
A police spokeswoman said officers were responding to threats made by phone in Heriot Row. Officers were dispatched about 4.50pm and were armed as a precaution, she said.
A residential address was searched and nothing of concern was located, the spokeswoman said.
