Hands clapped and the vocal cords were stretched - and that was just the audience.
The Otago Early Childhood and Schools Maori and Pacific Island Festival (Polyfest) continued at the Edgar Centre More FM Arena last night.
Hundreds of secondary and intermediate school pupils displayed their talents, attracting a huge audience, highlighted by the difficulty finding a car park near the centre once the event had begun.
Friends and family queued patiently to get into the centre, watching the big screen, until a gap in performances meant they could get in to see their school.
Between performances, it was not unusual for a school group, watching in the wings, to begin an impromptu haka to entertain the crowd.
The festival enters its final day today with performances by kindergartens and primary and intermediate schools.
