A firefighter inspects a car which crashed into a fence in Easther Cres yesterday.
A witness said she heard the car coming down the hill and when she looked up, the sedan had its bonnet up and was rolling back across the road from where it appeared to have hit a barrier on the opposite side of the road.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said appliances were called to reports of a car hitting a barrier about 2.20pm.
Firefighters worked to secure the scene and left the incident in the hands of police.
A St John spokesman said an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle attended and treated three patients at the scene for minor injuries.

The occupants were out of the car and appeared to be fine.
Crashes were not uncommon on the street, and the barrier had clearly done its job since it was installed, the witness said.
