A decision is expected to be made in the next week about how much of the fire-damaged building which housed the World Bar and Fat Badgers Pizza needs to be demolished.
The fire was believed to have started in a deep-frying vat in the Fat Badgers Pizza kitchen and spread upstairs to the popular 17-year-old nightclub.
Fortunately, few staff at both the bar and pizza restaurant were in the building when the mid-afternoon fire broke out and no-one was injured.
The building is owned by Boyd Corp Finance Ltd and company director Dave Boyd said there was ''still a lot of work going on behind the scenes'' with assessors, engineers and his insurance company.
The burnt-out building is in one of the resort's main streets, Shotover St.
''We are very close to a decision ... within the next week we will have a final decision.''
After a ''frustrating'' three months due to ''so many factors involved'', Mr Boyd hoped everyone would soon be able to move forward.
The World Bar opened a temporary venue, the Find, 300m from The World Bar site, before the Queenstown Winter Festival.
Just months before the fire, Fat Badgers Pizza had undergone a total refurbishment.
