On the back of tours of Europe, the UK and the US, ''The Best So Far'' tour celebrates the group's ''Best of'' album which features songs from all four of their studio albums.
Playing their self-described ''pure classic sound'', a blend of roots, R'n'B and funk, Katchafire will deliver one of the most authentic reggae shows around.
• New Zealand drum and bass stalwarts Concord Dawn perform next Friday at Re:Fuel.
Originally comprised of Matt Harvey (aka Matty C) and Evan Short (aka Kiljoy), the pair released their first album in 2000, and have gained national and international acclaim since.
Now solo, Harvey released the Air Chrysalis LP in 2012 via soundcloud and Facebook, winning the best Electronica LP award at the 2012 Rianz New Zealand Music Awards in the process.
A eclectic mix of local DJs will act as support including Ernesto Anemone, winner of the recent OUSA Future DJ competition, and DJs from Radio One's Heads Up Hip Hop Show.
• Presented by Amazing Enterprises, seven-piece ska/punk band TLA and punk/rock/ska trio Black Sky Hustler begin a seven-date South Island tour with a show at Chick's Hotel next Thursday.
Following shows in Invercargill, Te Anau, Christchurch, Nelson, and Barrytown, the two bands will return to Dunedin for a Re:Fuel show on September 4.
Be warned: each band aims for the upbeat, so put on your dancing shoes.
• Third3ye is the brainchild of MCs Angelo King and MeloDownz.
The pair combine with acclaimed producer Ben Jamin and turntablist DJ TORU to produce a soulful and conscious sound.
